The Bishop’s Forum 2023

In August 2023, Scattered was invited to present at Bishop’s Forum, held at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec. It was a milestone moment — our first time bringing our methods to a university setting.

Nearly 100 participants joined us. The room included university students, community leaders, and young professionals — a wide, diverse, and engaged group.

We opened with an introduction to Scattered — who we are, what we do, and why we believe in the power of mindful, creative expression for neurodivergent individuals. Then we guided everyone through a mindfulness meditation, inviting participants to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment. The room settled into a shared sense of calm.

From there, we moved into automatic writing. The invitation was simple: let your thoughts flow. Don’t worry about structure. Don’t worry about making sense. Just write.

What came back was extraordinary. We received poetry written in five different languages — a beautiful reflection of the group’s cultural richness and a reminder that self-expression is truly universal. Many participants said the activity gave them a deep sense of emotional release — a chance to finally put words to feelings they had been carrying for a long time.

The reflection period that followed was one of the most powerful parts of the day. People opened up. They shared. They connected — with themselves and with each other.

The feedback was clear: this work resonates. Many participants asked for more workshops. For Scattered, the Bishop’s Forum 2023 was a turning point — proof that our approach can reach and impact people of all ages and backgrounds.
