About Scattered

A nonprofit built on creativity, care and connection

Our Story

Scattered Automatic Expression was founded in 2024 by Sampreet Arneja and Arielle Warten as a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mental well-being through creativity, mindfulness, and accessible self-expression.

Both founders live with ADHD and understand how difficult it can be to slow down, focus, regulate emotions, and express what is happening internally. Through their own experiences, they discovered that creativity could become more than an outlet — it could become a practical tool for reflection, grounding, and connection.

Out of this came the Headspace Method: a simple practice that combines brief mindfulness exercises with free, unfiltered writing. The method gives participants space to pause, breathe, and express themselves without worrying about grammar, perfection, or doing things “the right way.”

Scattered was created to share this practice with others, especially youth, neurodivergent individuals, and community members who may not always feel represented in traditional wellness spaces. Our work is rooted in the belief that creativity can help people feel calmer, more connected, and less alone.

The Headspace Method

A simple creative wellness practice combining mindfulness, reflection, and free writing.

Through short guided moments of pause, participants are invited to slow down, breathe, and notice what they are feeling. They then write freely, without pressure, judgment, or concern for structure.

The focus is not on producing a perfect piece of writing. The focus is on creating space for awareness, emotional expression, and self-connection.

The Headspace Method is designed to be accessible, adaptable, and low-pressure. It can be used in classrooms, workshops, community events, youth spaces, and creative programs.

Our Mission & Values

Our vision is to empower youth and individuals to harness their inner strength and take charge of their mental wellness. A future where people critically understand the forces impacting their mental health, remain attuned to their authentic selves and mindfully express their thoughts and feelings through creative and artistic practices.

Our Mission is to create a Mental wellness community, run psychoeducation, artistic platforming events and wellness workshops across Canada, acting as preventative measures to combat rapidly declining mental health.

Our Values are Creativity, Inclusivity, Self-Discovery, and Empowerment.
