In June 2024, Scattered crossed an exciting new threshold — our first ever international workshop, held in Budapest, Hungary in partnership with the Budapest Poetry Collective.
The setting was a tranquil garden in the heart of the city. It was the perfect backdrop — peaceful, beautiful, and alive with nature. A space that invited you to slow down before we even began.
We opened with a grounding meditation right there among the greenery. Participants were guided to tune into their senses — feeling the breeze on their skin, listening to the rustle of leaves, becoming fully present in the moment. Nature did a lot of the work for us.
From that place of calm, we moved into automatic writing. Thoughts, feelings, images — whatever surfaced, participants let it flow onto the page without filtering or second-guessing.

What emerged was something extraordinary. Poetry and written reflections appeared in multiple languages, each piece a unique expression of a unique experience. The diversity in the room was rich — people from different countries, different cultures, different mother tongues — and yet the experience brought everyone into the same shared space. Art did what it always does: it connected people across every barrier.
The Budapest Poetry Collective were enthusiastic partners throughout, and by the end of the day both organizations were already talking about future collaborations.
For Scattered, this workshop was more than a great event. It was proof that our methods travel. Mindfulness and creative expression don’t belong to one culture or one country. They are universal — and this garden in Budapest made that beautifully clear.
